GIRL AND HORSE

The Girl and Horse series is Erin McGee Ferrell’s evolving body of large-scale narrative paintings about movement, memory, home, and resilience. The horse functions as geography and guide, while the girl emerges as a protagonist moving through the stages of a contemporary hero’s journey.

Ferrell constructs the paintings through charcoal drawing, transparent oil washes, denser passages, glazes, scraping, erasure, and repainting. The surfaces retain evidence of revision and lived experience; some linen begins as a working studio floor cloth before it is stretched.
