South Korea

September 2025 · Jeju Art for Earth · Jeju Island, Seoul & Busan

Invited to Jeju Art for Earth for her horse paintings, Erin McGee Ferrell joined South Korean and international artists in an exchange centered on art, ecological responsibility, and community. The only participating artist from the United States, she exhibited her work and led plein air painting with local schoolchildren in Jeju Island’s protected landscape.

Jeju Art for Earth

Jeju Island, South Korea · Public exhibition and festival, September 12–14, 2025 · Jeju Shinhwa World

Jeju Art for Earth brought Korean and international artists together around sustainability, biodiversity, and community. Ferrell’s invitation grew from her sustained exploration of horses in painting and its connection to Jeju’s equine culture. Her exhibited works included Bird, Girl, and Horse (2025), an oil painting that places the horse within a layered human and animal world.

Painting with the Jeju community

Alongside the exhibition, Ferrell joined fellow artists and local schoolchildren for plein air painting and demonstrations at Meonmulkkak wetland in Dongbaekdongsan. Working outdoors connected observation, painting, and the ecological setting. The exchange brought Jeju Island artists, visiting artists, and young participants into a shared creative activity.

Live sketches at Triton Poker Jeju

During her stay on Jeju Island, Ferrell was invited to observe the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series and made live sketches of poker players from the edge of the tournament room. Drawing in this setting extended her practice of working on location into an arena of concentrated attention and competition.

The concurrent Jeju II series ran September 8–23, 2025. Read Triton’s official September 2025 Jeju championship reports, results, and photographs.

Seoul & Busan

The wider South Korea journey included museum and gallery visits in Seoul and Busan, live painting of a Busan street market, and conversations with artists. These encounters opened connections that Ferrell hopes to develop through future collaborations.
